Vatican City and St. Peters
If you are in Rome on a Sunday morning, check the web listing, but most Sunday's the Pope makes an appearance in St. Peters Square at Noon. Arrive early, it will be crowded and be prepared to clear airport style security to get into the square. The security line will surge forward and stop, and surge forward and stop, the crowd is moved through in bunches. The day we were there the Pope was presiding over a mass in the square that was nearly over when we arrived. He then boarded the Pope-Mobile and made the rounds in the Square. The lines to get into St Peters can be substantial, we waited about 45 minutes to get in.
