Learning Always

On a long airline flight last year, I had a few of them, I watched the movie "Fablemans" a semi bio pick by Steven Spielberg. At one point in the movie the aspiring filmmaker, just a teenager, gets an audience with an infamous Hollywood director, who clearly has limited patience for the youngster. He has him look at western scenic paintings on the wall of his office and describe them. In one the horizon is at the bottom, in one it is in the top third.  The director makes the point that the horizon at the middle, where you would expect it, is dead boring, put the horizon in the bottom third, or the top third, or have none at all, to catch the viewers attention.

A simple principle of composition, well learned.

What will I learn this year?
