Very Different Feel - Meaning

Two shots, a click of the dial from color to black and white, very different feeling, very different messages.  The color shot evokes autumn warmness, the end of the season. The black and white evokes coldness, finality, closure. Which image to use? What feel are you looking for?  

This was the first outing with a new (used) lens.  A Nikkor 18-200 DX series.  My first reaction, I love the range, from wide, or mid range telephoto, it is a lot of glass, a bit heavy.  If I carry two lenses to get that range, I seldom change lenses in the field.  And the weight of the two lenses is probably about the same as the one.
