What I learned from Steven Spielberg

In the Steven Spielberg movie the Fabelman's there is a scene where he rangles an appointment with a famous movie producer/ director.  The gruff director has him look at three western themed painting on the wall.  In one the horizon is near the bottom, in one it is near the top, in one it is in the middle.  He asks the young man to describe the three, an makes the point, "put the horizon near the bottom or the top, in the middle is expected and boring."  I need to keep learning from this lesson.

  2. Finally, Spielberg teaches consistency. A career spanning decades, styles, and genres is held together by a steady commitment to storytelling fundamentals. Trends change. Technology evolves. But clear emotion, honest characters, and thoughtful direction endure.
